Renovations

Hey, this is just gonna be a quick post, but I’d just figured I’d let you know that I’m changing things up a bit with the design of the blog. Right now, it’s in a weird, unfinished limbo, so that’s why everything looks kinda wonky as of now.

BUT! Not to worry, I’ll clean everything up soonish, and create some logos and icons and such. Just in case you were wondering. 😉

“A Few Updates” 2: Electric Boogaloo

Sorry, friends, looks like I’m gonna be on another (but shorter) hiatus.

tenor.gif

I promise it won’t be as long as it was last time, though. I’m going to Canada tomorrow (WOOHOO!), and I’ll be back about a week from now. I’m not going to be able to get to a Book Review Tuesday that week, but I’ll take LOTS of pictures from my adventures up north and compile a nice little post once I’m settled back in.

I should probably do another fan art post soonish, but I’ve already…yeah, I’ve kinda dumped a bunch of stuff on you guys since I returned from the dead about a week ago (if you’re curious, look for 6/4/19 [Aurora Rising review], my Dark Phoenix review, and 6/11/19 [Defy the Fates review].)

Again, sorry, guys. See you soon!

Florida: The Sequel

Though it’s…a little over a week late now, here’s my chronicle of my latest Florida vacation. It was a shorter trip than usually (President’s Day weekend), but there definitely wasn’t any shortage of things to do! I hope you enjoy my pictures!

DAY ONE:

IMG_7057.jpeg

IMG_7059.jpeg

Our flight was about three hours long, and we landed in Florida a little later at night. We didn’t do a whole lot, save for have some delicious pizza (from Cappy’s) and pie (from Goody-Goody). But I did once again reunite with some old *ahem*…acquaintances, the demonic doll and the vampiric lamp.

DAY 2:

IMG_7074.jpeg

IMG_7080.jpeg

IMG_7066.jpegIMG_7071.jpeg

In the morning, I spent some time feeding the neighbor’s cows some Spanish moss and oranges. Some of them even let me pet their noses 😭 I’ve missed these guys.

Later that day, we had lunch in Tampa and went to the Tampa Art Museum.

IMG_7097.jpegIMG_7101.jpeg

IMG_7112.jpeg
Also, the only glimpse you’ll get of my sudden Lenny Busker hair, brought on by the humidity.

IMG_7108.jpeg

Our first stop was the Robert Indiana exhibit. I’d never heard of him before, and I immensely enjoyed viewing his art and exploring the meaning behind it.

IMG_7119.jpeg

IMG_7120.jpeg

IMG_7124.jpegIMG_7123.jpeg

We also saw a plethora of classical Greek art. I especially enjoyed the statue of Athena and the vase with the sphinx on it.

DAY 3:

Our last full day in Florida was the always fun (and pretty much mandatory, considering the climate we’re in) beach day. This time, we went to Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island.

IMG_7149.jpegIMG_7150.jpeg

I didn’t get as many pictures, but it was most certainly a beautiful day. (I was too busy a. frolicking in the ocean b. trying to evade the throngs of loud tourists and c. evade the seagulls, which were frequently dive-bombing said tourists every time they saw somebody break out the sandwiches.)

DAY 3:

Our last day in Florida was less eventful from the previous two days, consisting mostly of packing and eating Cuban food (*starts salivating*). But, I did get to visit my friends one last time.

IMG_7170.jpeg

IMG_7174.jpegIMG_7168.jpeg

My bovine friends, that is. 😉

Overall, a relatively quiet trip to Florida, but a fun one nonetheless. I’m sorry about how late this post came, and I hope you enjoyed reading it. 🙂

Rating Bizarre Stock Photos

The other day, my friend and I were talking about the weirdness of stock photos. I’d seen a couple of pretty strange ones before, but I had no idea of the enormity of the amount of weird stock photos out there. So I went on a little spiral, if you will, and googled stock photos. What I found turned out to be the stuff of nightmares. Or maybe more like fever dreams.

Anyway, I decided to find the weirdest photos possible and rate them.

4056303_stock-photo-grandpa-protecting-his-savings.jpg

Simultaneously relatable and unnverving in some intangible way. 6/10 because I can kind of feel his confusion and outrage, but it’s also making me kind of uneasy

weird-big-hands-man-5813bc7cbabef.jpeg

UNLIMITED POWER. 9/10 because his facial expression is rather disconcerting

awkward-stock-photos.jpg

This is the most assertive picture I’ve ever come across. The sheer amount of emotion and fervor rolls off of it in waves. *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH* 10/10

stock-photograph-of-a-pretty-asian-girl-screaming-into-a-trumpet-AWDK0P.jpg

Ma’am…ma’am? Ma’am? Everything okay over there? Ma’am? 8/10

large-pants-weird-stock-photos.jpg

This is the single best thing that the internet has to offer. An elegant force in motion. (Or, alternatively, “makin’ my way downtown…”) 100/10

z4f0O.jpg

Corn D E T E C T E D. 9/10 a beautiful vision of the future

Funny_and_weird_stock_photos53.jpg

This poor man is clearly in denial. Either he’s grieving his hair loss or he’s just hallucinating. 7/10 somebody’s gotta tell him eventually

“Don’t you just hate that feeling when you’re eating a banana, and it just goes directly through your skull?”–anonymous

7/10 looks pretty painful, I hate that feeling too

l-homme-dr-le-avec-le-casque-de-pastèque-et-google-34231129.jpg

Now this is just disconcerting. His expression is a bit too smug, like he knows that you’ve spent an hour sitting on the toilet and he’s off to tell all of his friends about it. 3/10 get away from me please

de-knappe-het-koken-kip-van-de-jonge-mensenholding-16215064.jpg

This right here is the definition of my 5th grade biology class.  5/10 because I don’t want to imagine how slimy that chicken is

13-1213-Pasta-Lady.jpg

Now this is life goals. 8/10 because it’s kind of boring otherwise

depositphotos_3247683-stock-photo-just-a-big-kid-at.jpg

You can go anywhere with the power of imagination. 8/10 because I’m kind of worried that he doesn’t have any other clothes on other than that ridiculous hat

Well, I hope you *enjoyed* that disturbing glimpse of how my mind works. I promise that I’ve got some relatively normal posts coming up for you guys soon. Enjoy the rest of your day, and let’s hope that #2 doesn’t come creeping into your room at 3 A.M.

A brief bout of cuteness overload (and other stuff like that)

Over Thanksgiving break, my mom was digging through some old CDs, and found a bunch of old photos in the process. They were all from around 2007, when I was about four years old.

I had no memory of when we had gotten two of our cats-Anakin and Padme-because, y’know, I was really little. (They are both about 10 years old, cousins, and totally inseparable <3) So I was surprised when my mom uncovered these…

DSC01743.jpeg

This is little kitten Padme!!! AAAH! HOW WAS SHE EVER THAT SMALL????? (She’s kinda overweight now, poor thing. Sorry, Padme…)

DSC02679.jpeg

And here’s little kitten Anakin!!! This, along with most of the other photos, were taken on the day we adopted this little Sith lord. What a cutie.

DSC02691.jpeg

Spending time with his loving cousin. Look at those eyes!!!

DSC02685.jpeg

Um…don’t know what’s going on here…

DSC02692.jpeg

…Hugs?

Along with the kitten pictures came a photo of me on Halloween when I was about three. I was Princess Leia, for the second time (I had been her when I was two as well).

Great expression, huh? So regal.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my unannounced slew of kitten pictures as much as I enjoyed seeing them. Meow.

My creativity gets (slightly) out of hand…(Or “I’m a complete nerd”)

On Monday, it snowed about a foot, and was snowing for most of the day. (That’s Colorado weather for ya…snow in early October…) I was one of about a third of the class who remembered their snow gear, and so I was allowed to roll around in the snow.

So, I took advantage of the moment and rolled around making snow angels. After a few minutes, I decided that regular snow angels are boring. And thus, Snow Maleficent was born. All I really did was draw little horns on its head. Looking back, I could easily have added her staff, but I had other plans.

The next snow angel I made was the Snow Angel of Death, based off of the Angel of Death from Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Here’s a picture of him if you haven’t seen it:

hellboy-2-angel-of-death-1005118-1280x0.jpg
Sweet dreams, kids…

All I achieved Monday was the head, the little wing-eye things, and little marks on the wings to make them look like feathers. I really couldn’t remember much else, and by that time, recess was over.

By Tuesday, I had looked up a picture of the Angel of Death, and there was still snow on the ground. So, I improved on the design, adding the crack in the head, and a too-big smile. Both times, I forgot the weird rib-pattern (or real ribs? who knows) on the robes, but hey-it sorta looked like the Angel of Death…

Sadly, I have no pictures of my snow-angel creations, but you can sorta guess what they looked like. Maybe. Not really.

Yeah, sorry about the random tangent there, I just figured it would be fun to write about.

Also, on the subject of Hellboy, I figured I’d also just put in this Hellboy II clip that always either a) makes me crack up or b) makes me hold in more laughter than is probably healthy…

I’ve been watching this clip for months on end…help…

Okay, I’ll spare you more geekiness…bye.

Book Review Tuesday (7/11/17)-Where You’ll Find Me (PLUS-Bonus gif barrage for NO apparent reason!)

Good morning, afternoon, evening, eternal night, or whatever time it is where you are!

My summer has been pretty uneventful so far-besides Comic-Con, nothing much has happened. Mostly, I’ve been drawing, petting the cats, eating ice cream and popsicles every once in a while, watching movies & TV shows (SHERLOCK. OH. MY. GOOOOOOD), and regularly raiding my local library for a new set of books to read. This book happens to be one of these books…as usual. Enjoy!

26114728.jpg

Where You’ll Find Me

Anna Collette thought that going into 8th Grade this year would be fun, but she couldn’t be further from the truth. Her mother has just been hospitalized after attempting to kill herself, her “best friend” Dani just ditched her for the popular girls, and she’s stuck at home with her dad, his new wife, and her baby. And to top it all off, she’s been forced to sit at the “loser table” after being abandoned by Dani. But nothing there is as it seems. Soon, Anna finds friends in two outcasts-Shawna and Sarabeth-and soon finds her place. With their help, Anna’s been feeling a little better and more normal. But will it last?

I liked this book a lot more than I expected to. Heartwarming and heartwrenching, and overall, very endearing. I definitely wouldn’t call it a “light-read”, but it was a nice, short, good summer read. If you read it, I hope you like it!

I’ll get to posting those WondLa fan arts soon. Bye, everyone, and have a wonderful summer!

WAIT!

I REALLY WANT TO POST SOME GIFS FOR SOME REASON!

(But don’t I always?)

SO HERE YOU GO!

Thanksgiving!

Hey guys! If you’re in America, have a happy Thanksgiving. If you’re not, I still hope you have an awesome day. Besides being thankful for  family, friends, food, and stuff like that, you know what else I’m thankful for?

You.

That’s right, all of you! All 22 of you!

I’m very thankful for all of my followers! Thank you, all of you, for tolerating my weirdness/fangirlness, liking and commenting on my posts, taking my *quizzes*, and just being there. Thank you so much.

Just for the heck of it, here’s a picture prior to the baking of the HOLY PUMPKIN PIE

7 Amazing WondLa Quotes!

Since I’ve already done some Rovender quotes, why not just some WondLa?

Here you go!

Huxley.png

“I’m an optimist, what can I say? You should try it sometime.”

-Huxley (The Battle for WondLa)

Arius.jpg

“Even the most wicked have a family who loves them.” -Arius (The Search for WondLa

Elders.jpg

“We are all seeking the same thing, but we are not all occupying the exact same space or the exact same life. We are each unique. We each bring  slightly different viewpoints to the circle based on where we stand in the world.” -Antiquus (The Battle for WondLa)

Messages.jpg

“Life is a gift given that none should take.” -Eva Nine (The Battle for WondLa)

Wastelands.jpg

“That is the very nature of survival-living and existing despite the odds.”

-Muthr 06 (The Search for WondLa

Pillar Guard.jpg

“Our knowledge, the things we learn, can carry on in others after we are gone. The toil of this journey, our journey, is the map for those who will follow.” -Eva Nine (The Battle for WondLa)

And now, the grand finale…

IMG_1654

“We each play a part. We are born, we live, we perish, perhaps to be born again in some other form-just like this planet. Galaxies are one living entity burning with the energy from all of us. Life and death are but siblings who turn the universe continually. Endlessly.” -Zin (The Battle for WondLa)

Hopefully you enjoyed these quotes as much as I did. Aren’t they great?
