Cozy Fall Book Tag ðŸ

Happy Friday, bibliophiles!

I haven’t done a book tag in quite a while, and I figured I’d do one since I’m on fall break! I found this one over at Brianna’s Books and Randomness, and the tag was originally created by The Book Belle on BookTube. I love fall, so this is the perfect tag…

Let’s begin, shall we?

ANIME — ANIME SEASONS: Fall/Autumn 🍁

🍁COZY FALL BOOK TAG🍁

What book always reminds you of fall/autumn?

The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones

I read The Bone Houses last fall, and it’s the perfect atmospheric book for this season!

What is your favorite autumnal book cover?

Kingsbane (Empirium, #2) by Claire Legrand

Kingsbane (book 2 in the Empyrium trilogy) has some lovely autumnal colors.

What is your favorite autumnal drink to read with?

I don’t habitually drink while I read, but I can’t say no to drinking some hot cinnamon spice tea while reading.

Do you prefer to read early in the morning or late at night?

oop here I go dumping in all the MCU gifs

…uh, both? It depends on the day, really. My internal clock usually wakes me up at about 7 am on the weekends (much to my dismay), so I sometimes read then, if I don’t fall back asleep first. I like to read before bed as well. Both is good.

Halloween is coming! What’s your favorite spooky read?

The anatomy of Frankenstein book covers

Can’t go wrong with Frankenstein, the original spooky read!

What is the ultimate comfort read for you?

Aurora Rising: Amie Kaufman,Jay Kristoff: 9781786075338: Amazon.com: Books

I know I talk about Aurora Rising in almost every single tag I do, but this book really does have such a special place in my heart. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, what with book 3 coming out in about a month…

What is your favorite fall reading snack?

Boo! Bulldog's Top Halloween Candy of 2019 - bulldog yoga

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a reading snack, but believe me when I say that all of my impulse control goes out the window whenever I’m near a bag of candy corns.

What is your favorite autumnal candle to burn whilst reading?

Beautiful Candle Animated Gif Pics - Best Animations

I don’t usually burn a whole lot of candles, but we have a whole bunch of decorative candles from my family’s Halloween decorations that are scattered around the house. They’re pretty cute.

When you’re not reading, what’s your favorite fall activity?

Normal is an illusion." | Autumn scenes, Autumn tumblr, Autumn cozy

Watching Tim Burton movies, taking pictures of the turning leaves, and curling up with a blanket and whatever TV show I happen to be watching at the moment.

What’s on your fall reading list?

A Gathering of Shadows: A Novel (Shades of Magic, 2): Victoria Schwab: 9780765376473: Amazon.com: Books

Um? I never really do concrete reading lists, but I just got A Gathering of Shadows from my school library because I LOVED book 1. This will probably be my next read.

Fall Time, Cozy Time Book Tag

Happy Thursday, bibliophiles, and for those of us celebrating, happy Thanksgiving! I’m extraordinarily thankful for all of you for your endless support, and I’m grateful that we’ve gotten through this year together.

I have *way too many* book tags that I’ve been tagged in/want to do piling up, but I figured that I’d go ahead and do this one because there’s not much time left until it’s winter. Thank you so much to Bertie @ Luminosity Library for tagging me! I’m not sure who created this tag, so if you know, please let me know, and I’ll credit them!

Let’s begin, shall we?

🍁FALL TIME, COZY TIME BOOK TAG🍁

CRUNCHING LEAVES: The world is full of color! Chose a book with red/orange/yellow on the cover.

Amazon.com: Raybearer (9781419739828): Ifueko, Jordan: Books

I love all of the vibrant colors and patterns on the cover of Raybearer, and I’m glad to say that this fantasy did not disappoint!

COZY SWEATER: It’s finally cool enough for warm and fuzzy clothing! What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

Amazon.com: Pumpkinheads (9781626721623): Rowell, Rainbow, Hicks, Faith Erin, Stern, Sarah: Books

Pumpkinheads never fails to give me all the feel-good vibes whenever I’m feeling down. It’s a perfect read for this time of year, too!

FALL STORM: The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose a book that you would like to read on a stormy day.

The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones

The Bone Houses has no shortage of immaculate spooky vibes–perfect for reading when the light is low and the rain is pattering against the windows.

COOL, CRISP AIR: Makes you breathe freely–What’s the coolest character you’d like to trade places with?

The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library Novel): Cogman, Genevieve: 9781101988640: Amazon.com: Books

As much of a disappointment that the rest of this series turned out to be, I would LOVE to trade places with Irene from The Invisible Library. I can’t think of a dream job that’d be better than hopping through strange dimensions to retrieve rare books.

HOT APPLE CIDER–Warm autumn drink–what under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

The Pioneer (The Pioneer, #1) by Bridget Tyler

It’s so sad to see how little recognition The Pioneer gets in the world of YA sci-fi–for me, it’s what sci-fi should be, at its core–inventive, thoughtful, timely, and riveting. If you haven’t given this duology a try, I implore you to do so!

COATS, SCARVES, AND MITTENS: The weather has turned cold, and it’s time to cover up! What’s a book cover you don’t like?

Prince of Shadows by Rachel Caine: 9780451414427 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books

It kind of pains me to say this, since Prince of Shadows was decent and I miss Rachel Caine (😭), but I was kind of embarrassed reading this one out in public…

PUMPKIN SPICE: Time for some Starbucks! What’s your favorite fall comfort food?

If we’re talking Starbucks, I LOVE salted caramel mochas! They’re just the perfect blend of chocolate and caramel…I could go on for days…

Other than that, I’d say anything that’s on the Thanksgiving table–biscuits, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie…man, I can’t wait to eat tonight…

WARM, COZY BONFIRE: Spread the cozy warmth! Who do you tag?

I tag:

+ anyone who wants to participate! Don’t feel obligated if I tagged you, but if you see this and want to join in, by all means!

That’s it for this fall book tag! Have a wonderful rest of your day, and take care of yourselves! Happy Thanksgiving, if you’re celebrating!

Weekly Update: October 12-18, 2020

Happy Sunday, bibliophiles!

Whew, it’s definitely been…a week. Monday and Tuesday were fairly chill, but then Wednesday rolled around. I was having such a good day, feeling really accomplished and proud of myself, and then everything sort of crumbled around me. The details are rather personal, so I’d rather not divulge, but my general state just took a nosedive. I’m slowly recovering, but everything still feels…heavy. Definitely not the ideal mood for a long weekend, but here we are.

everythingisfine.gif | This Is Fine | Know Your Meme

But things are looking up a little bit. I found a few gems in my library holds, and I’m slowly digging into both the books I preordered over the summer that came in the mail a week ago. (Marie Lu: the cure for all that ails you. I rest my case, your honor.) I’ve been making a lot of art, but my mental state definitely made me fall behind on outlining for NaNoWriMo again. I’m slowly catching up on Fargo, finished up Raised By Wolves (@ Ridley Scott EXCUSE ME WHAT WAS THAT ENDING SIR EXPLAIN YOURSELF), and watched The Shining for the first time. Had some weird dreams about Six of Crows too, so there’s that…

Here’s hoping that next week picks up…I mean, I’ve got Memento to look forward to, and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is FINALLY ready at the library…
