I finished this book a couple days ago after it was recommended to me at least ten times on my kindle and on Goodreads. So yeah. Here you are:

Roller Girl

For Astrid, things aren’t exactly looking up. Her best friend has just dumped her for an old enemy, and now she feels alone. But after her mom takes her to a local roller derby match, her life changes. Now, she knows what she wants to do. The day arrives, and it’s way tougher than it looks. Astrid feels significantly worse than everyone else, and she seems really slow. Can she survive summer-and roller derby?

 

Although it isn’t as good as some other graphic novels I’ve read, I thought Roller Girl was great!

Oh wow-April’s almost over already! For this last Tuesday of April, I’m giving you an amazing book. At first, I just had it on my Kindle as a library book, but I liked it so much that I bought it! Pretty creepy, though. BE WARNED.

For years, unbeknownst to the inhabitants of Biltmore Estate, Serafina and her pa haved lived in the basement, undetected. Serafina’s only purpose up until now was catching rats-which she did quite skillfully and in stride. But after witnessing the kidnapping (and quite possible killing) of a child by a man (or maybe not a man at all…) in a black cloak, she realizes that something has gone dreadfully wrong. Soon, other children, many related to the inhabitants of Biltmore Estate. After joining up with Braeden, Biltmore’s owner’s nephew, she discovers shocking secrets that will lead her to the man in the black cloak-and to who her true parents were. Can Serafina stop the Man in the Black Cloak?

 

I totally loved this book, and I am currently restringing myself from spewing out the spoilers to you. But I have a heart, so for now I’ll keep my mouth shut. Enjoy the rest of your April!

Hope is a normal girl in White Rock, a city recovering from the horrors of World War III.The only thing that isn’t normal is that she has always failed at inventions. After failing again, she discovers that bandits will invade. The people of White Rock have invented a life-saving medicine, and the bandits want it for themselves. Can Hope save the medicine, her father, and White Rock before it’s too late?

I just finished this about a day ago. And the funny thing was that in the book, there’s a big blizzard that gets in Hope’s way-and there was a blizzard here that produced over three feet of snow at our house! How weird is that? Well, heck. It’s CO.

This story follows Varjak, a purebred Mesopotamian Blue. He is shunned by his family because his eyes aren’t the correct color for the breed. Now outside, he must find his way home through the city, with dangerous cat gangs and the infamous Sally Bones on the loose. Can Varjak come back home and save his family?

ANYWAY…I’m doing this book for an independent book report at school, and so I figured that I might as well review it here. This was a great book-in short, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets Enola Holmes! Cool, right? Then read the review!

 

Nooks and Crannies

Tabitha Crum is a middle-class girl living in London with parents who don’t love her and a mouse, nicknamed Sir Pemberley, as her only friend. But one day, she receives a mysterious letter from the secretive Countess of Windermere, inviting her and five other children to stay at her mansion-and one of these children may be her heir! She soon arrives, along with (from left to right on the cover) Viola Dale, Barnaby Trundle, Oliver Appleby, Frances Wellington, and Edward Herringbone. Soon, suspicous things start to appear, and a murder occurs. Can Tabitha put her skills to the test and solve the case?

 

I really enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait to make the poster for this report! Hope you like it!

Hi! I’m kind of running out of books to review, so today I’m doing a book I read at the library this summer that I liked. CATS!

 

The Five Lives of Our Cat Zook

Oona and her five year old brother Fred adore their cat Zook*. But he’s getting old, and he has to stay at the vet because of an illness. Oona tries to console Fred and tell him that this is just one out of Zook’s nine lives and makes up stories about Zook’s already lived lives. All the while, Oona keeps wondering-is Zook going to make it?

 

I really liked this book, and in honor of, well, you know, cats, I took a picture of one of my cats with this book (I may post it later). Enjoy!

This post is somewhat historic-the first ever Manga to make it onto BRT! I know I posted a Warriors book last week, but I just read this and it is AWESOME! Scourge-stereotypical villain, but awesome and Grand High Lord of Karma. Really, if you read this, you’d understand.

Warriors-Rise of Scourge

This is the untold story of Scourge-the infamous tyrant leader of BloodClan, a group of cats bent on destroying the forest Clans and taking it for themselves.
