Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Book Review Tuesday. Today, I have a beautiful  book to recommend-Blackbird Fly. Blackbird-Fly-Erin-Entrada-Kelly.jpg

(whoa…didn’t realize how big this image would be…)

Blackbird Fly is about Apple Yengko, a girl who moved from the Philippines at age four because of her father’s sudden death. She has one reminder of him-a Beatles tape. Now in seventh grade, Apple has problems- a stubborn mother, mean boys-and girls-and now she’s been coined the third-ugliest girl in school. Will Apple make it through? And in the end, will she actually get a life? And not to mention, a guitar?

This is a great book-for bookworms and Beatles Fans alike. I hope you enjoy! And P.S-Happy New Year!

Book Review Tuesday (12/29/15)- The Search for WondLa

I’m starting a new tradition here on the Neon Cheetah- Book Review Tuesday! It’s basically just a weekly book review/recommendation for all of my followers. Of course, I’m probably not going to do Harry Potter or Warriors or The Hunger Games because virtually everyone knows about them (although all of them are great). So today, for the very first BRT, I’m going to tell you about The Search for WondLa series (otherwise known as THE BEST SERIES IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!!)

Book One

At long last…THE FORCE AWAKENS!!!

YES! Finally! Being the complete geek that I am (and I swear, “geek” is no bad thing) I LOVE Star Wars and went to see Episode VII on opening day. For a visual, here’s the poster (and one of my desktop wallpapers)

Before I go on, I solemnly swear that I am up to no good…um *ahem*. Sorry! I meant to say that I solemnly swear that I won’t spoil anything.

And with that…OMG!!! It. Was. So. Darn. AWESOME!!!

I mean, I just LOVED it! First, there’s Rey. She is just so boss, and she rocks the triple bun thing with her hair, she’s great with a lightsaber, and you could make ten million memes out of all of the surprised looks she’s ever had on her face…! Speaking of which, you could also make a lot of memes out of Kylo Ren…Geez Louise…SOMEONE’S GOT SOME ANGER MANAGEMENT ISSUES! But he’s awesome anyway. I mean, his LIGHTSABER…! Okay. I guess I should stop so as not to give the entire movie away. But still! WATCH IT! IT IS SOOOOO AWESOME!

Before this post ends, I just want to share this little spin-off of the poster that the creator of the comic Bloom County did that is absolutely HILARIOUS!

Well, bye. And may the force be with you! 😀

The Madeline Todd Book-Rating Method

image1

Yes…this was necessary….

Here are some examples for each number on the scale:

  1. Luckily, I haven’t read any books that were THIS bad
  2. I haven’t read any books this bad either (not to worry, I have examples for all of the other ones!)
  3. I’m pretty sure it was either The Pembertons or The Pembrooks or something like that. Basically, the part I read (I stopped reading because of the sheer boringness of it all) was just stuff like “oh, the dog puked”, “we’re on a really long car trip” or  “oh, we’ve just arrived at an old, dusty house. Wheee.”
  4. This one was a book I read recently. It was called Crystal Doors. It seemed really cool, but it was NOT! The characters had virtually no personality WHATSOEVER. (And don’t get me started on those cheesy “magic” names…)
  5. We had to read this book for school. It was called The Ancient One. Like Crystal Doors, it seemed really promising. But it just lacked excitement. Even in the supposedly “intense” climax, I just heard *cricket chirp* *cricket chirp* . But at least  it had an interesting plot. I like the author’s connection to nature.
  6. There are SO many books that fall in this category, but I’ll just choose one. How about…The Time Cat? It was certainly not the best book, but I liked it enough to keep it and display it on my bookshelf.
  7. A lot of books fall into this category (same with #8) but I’ll go with the Unwanteds series. Really good! (Alex, I can hear you saying SQUEE!) It was just amazing, and I can’t wait to read the new one
  8. For this, I’ll choose Harry Potter. Yes, Max, I actually did this. Super good. I mean it. Super good.
  9. For me, there are only two books (series) that fall in this category. The one I chose to show was the Search for WondLa series. SO GOOD with a capital S (and G, for that matter) The moment I laid eyes on it (it was at the back of Sunwing, which I’ll rate a 7. Thanks, Sunwing!) I just thought, I have to read this! I do not regret my decision. At all.
  10. Only one series falls into this category…I bet you can guess what it is…Drumroll, please…THE FAMILIARS!!!!!! BEST SERIES EVER! LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE!

Hehe…this post just goes to show how much of a bookworm I am. 😋
